Magical Elite Defeat Trafford
The U16 Premier side moved to a 4-6 record after beating the 2-9 Trafford Magic in Manchester.
Elite, who have had a dry spell of no games in the last 3 weeks, started off a little slow and out of game rhythm, losing the first quarter 20-16 and drawing the second 17-17 to go into halftime down 4, 37-33.
The 3rd quarter is where Elite really showed what they can do with some increased focus and intensity on the defensive end and better execution offensively. Elite pulled away, winning the 3rd 22-6 going into the 4th up 12, 55-43.
At the start of the 4th, Sheffield kept their momentum and got the lead up to 22 before rotating the players who hadn’t played as much with 7 minutes to go, which sparked a comeback from Trafford by getting the game down to 10 with a minute to go. Despite the starters coming back in to finish the game, Trafford's sudden change in intensity had Sheffield flustered, which forced two unnecessary turnovers, bringing the game to 6 at the final buzzer.
Ikenna Alisi led with 16, Omar Safi had 12 and Raphael Taylor added 11.
