A Giant Performance From Manchester Defeats Elite
The U16 premier team had their hands full on the final Sunday before Christmas against the top of the Northern Premier, Manchester Giants, and with Sheffield without some key players was going to make it even tougher.
The first half was a very disappointing performance from the Sheffield side, who were at the game in body but not in mind, with very poor effort and execution, only scoring 11 points in the 1st half with Manchester scoring 50.
At halftime, Coach Tom Morey made it very clear that this level of effort and execution is completely unacceptable, and adjustments were made, and Sheffield came out with much more fight and showed what they can do with the right level of focus and intensity and narrowly lost the 3rd quarter 22-20.
Despite the improvements in the 3rd, Sheffield struggled to maintain this level of performance and ultimately lost 96-37 to end 2024 on a low with a very uninspiring performance.
The young U16 team looks to make some major improvements going into 2025 with their 1st game away at Leicester Riders on January 11th.
